Qld: Hotel worker clubbed unconscious in robbery
BRISBANE, April 16 AAP - A hotel worker was clubbed unconscious and tied up in a robberyin the northern outskirts of Brisbane overnight.
Police said the assistant manager was counting the day's takings in the office at thePetrie Hotel around midnight when he heard a noise at the back of the hotel.
He went out to investigate the noise and was confronted by two men wearing dark clothing,one armed with a sawn-off shotgun.
The assistant manager was forced back into the office where he was threatened withthe rifle and forced to hand over the takings.
He was then struck from behind and knocked unconscious.
The man awoke to find his hands bound with electrical tape, which he managed to loosenand then phone police.
The robbers escaped with a sum of money, the hotel worker's wallet, his mobile phoneand car keys.
He was treated in Redcliffe Hospital but was not seriously injured.
Police were still searching for the robbers today.
One man was described as about 30 years old, around 180cm tall with a large stomach.
He had large sunburnt hands and wore dark trackpants, a baseball cap and dirty sneakers.
The second man was thin and wore dark trackpants, a baseball cap and blue and whiterunning shoes.
Both men had T-shirts wrapped around their faces to disguise their identity.
