Internet poll favors Paris for 2012 Olympics

SINGAPORE, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Most of respondents to aninternational Internet survey favored Paris as a host to the 2012Olympics, according to a study released Thursday.

The survey, conducted by ACNielsen, polled more than 21,261Internet users in 38 countries and regions.

Madrid and London came joint second in the survey. New York andMoscow are the other bidders. The International Olympic Committeewill pick the host city at a meeting in Singapore on July 6.

"The majority of respondents in 27 out of 38 markets surveyedchose Paris as their preferred host for the Olympic Games in 2012, "said Ashok Charan, managing director of ACNielsen ResearchSingapore.

The Chinese, who will host the Olympics in 2008, were the biggestsupporters of the Paris bid with 52 percent of respondents favoringthe French capital, according to the survey.
