REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. -- Saba Customer and One of the Largest Banking Groups from the Nordic Region Receives "The Competency Company of the Year 2004" Award from the Swedish Competency Development Group
Saba (Nasdaq:SABA), the leading provider of human capital development and management (HCDM) solutions, today announced that Swedbank, one of the largest banking groups in the Nordic area, has been named "The Competency Company of the Year, 2004" by the Swedish Competency Development Group. The award recognizes Swedbank's excellence in human capital vision and its accomplishments in developing the more than 16,000 employees throughout the entire Swedbank organization.
"A competent workforce is one of the most important factors when customers choose a bank," said Jan Liden, managing director and CEO, Swedbank. "Our investment to develop the competencies of our employees is a long-term effort to help improve the overall satisfaction of our customers, and it is gratifying to receive this award."
Responding to the economic downturn in Sweden's financial services industry, Swedbank purchased Saba Enterprise Learning to drive its "Tool for the Future" initiative. The initiative was created to support Swedbank's fundamental belief that the skills, motivation and satisfaction of its employees are instrumental drivers of value for customers. Swedbank regularly measures customer satisfaction and then uses those measurements to improve organizational competency based on job roles. All of this is conducted in the framework of Saba Enterprise Learning's flexible, easy-to-use learning structure. By driving improvements in its human capital assets, Swedbank will be able to improve profitability and overall organizational performance.
"The financial services industry is faced with unprecedented pressure to adopt enterprise-wide people management systems that focus on improving individual and organizational performance," said Bobby Yazdani, Saba Chairman and CEO. "This award for Swedbank is further proof that they are executing on that vision. We are proud to partner with industry leaders like Swedbank and continue to be excited about the momentum of Saba in the financial services market."
"There are different ways to improve profitability and performance," said Staffan Ivarsson, deputy director of Swedbank human resources, who is responsible for the Tool for the Future initiative. "The key is developing the ability to understand the economics of human capital and human interactions and how to change the dynamic to improve our organizational performance."
